4 arguments for building a wooden house

The coronavirus pandemic showed a very important side of life, which, unfortunately, has been forgotten by people: when living in a metropolis, a person becomes vulnerable, and his immune system suffers. Numerous neighbors surround us, and the fresh air, clear snow and green grass become a real luxury. Now that people are thinking where to invest, the answer is obvious: in their own health. Protect your family by choosing life in the country and a wooden house!

Unconditional Health Benefits

Numerous studies have shown that the tree has a beneficial effect on the human respiratory system. Wooden walls – solution for allergy sufferers and asthmatics. Due to its natural antibacterial features, this material prevents the growth of bacteria and viruses, and also purifies the air. The second key point is air humidity. A tree is able to regulate it on its own: it gives off moisture if the air is too dry, and absorbs if the air is too humid. The humidity indicator should be at the level of 35-55%:

  1. This level is optimal for human health and house safety.
  2. Humidity above 55% leads to the appearance of fungus and mold, which negatively affect the safety of the building and the health of its residents.
  3. In overdried (below 35%) air dust mites and bacteria appear that provoke respiratory tract infections.

This is far from the only healing effect of the tree:

  • It normalizes blood pressure;
  • Reduces heart rate;
  • Reduces stress level;
  • Improves the quality of sleep;
  • Preserves the desired level of the geomagnetic field (wood weakens it by 1%, brick - by 7%, and concrete - by 10%).

Add to this fresh air that you can only enjoy outside the city - it will not be replaced by any fashionable cleaning devices. To stay healthy, you need to live in an environmentally friendly house. This is a time-tested axiom.

Why other materials “lose” to the tree

In brick, aerated concrete, frame, and other types of houses, moisture differences appear due to the multilayer structure. One way or another, moisture goes into them, and therefore, condensation, mold and fungus appear. In Finland, such houses are immediately demolished - it is useless to repair them. Moisture is especially dangerous in winter: it freezes inside the walls and cracks appear on them.

The more synthetic materials are used in the designs, the higher the risks of moisture saturation and damage. The humidity drops inside the house at the same time vary from 20 to 80%!

Wood is the only material that maintains the desired moisture level even during the heating season.

Comfortable microclimate

In addition to the correct humidity, a wooden house will save you from the hot summer and warm you in the cold winter. This is due to the porous structure and the highest thermal insulation properties among building materials. There are no air conditioners in Finnish houses - they simply are not needed here!

Maximum safety

We have already said that houses made of timber have high fire resistance and earthquake resistance. It is equally important to explain how our planning decisions are created. After all, they are also directly related to the safety of a person, or rather, to care about his health.

The most important factors affecting the well-being of a person (as well as the spread of viruses in the house) are air circulation and insolation (natural light).

Experiments by scientists have shown that in an unventilated room where people are located, the carbon dioxide content exceeds the norm by more than 20 times. So the respiratory and circulatory systems are the first to suffer. That is why doctors strongly recommend that if you have flu, ventilate the room at least four times a day.

It is much easier to ventilate a narrow room than a square house with numerous partitions and corners. We do not design tambours in houses, as they block air flows (the absence of a tambour does not affect the heat loss in any way), and we place most of the rooms near the exterior walls and windows. Add an additional exit here, and you will understand why this type of house is much faster and easier to ventilate.

The increased glazing area and orientation to the cardinal points provides the maximum level of insolation. And exactly where it is necessary: in the bedroom you will not be disturbed by the early rays of the sun, and the living room and kitchen will be flooded with light. ⠀

Each project is individual, and we try to make life in our houses as comfortable and safe as possible.

Significant savings

The question of how much the maintenance of the house will cost is important for each person. Therefore, it must be solved at the stage of material selection and design. We say with confidence: Lumi Polar houses can save up to 60% in costs. How is this possible? Thanks to energy-efficient construction technologies:

  • Orientation to the cardinal points;
  • Lack of "cold bridges";
  • Proper insulation of the foundation and roof;
  • Wooden windows;
  • Use of high-quality breathable insulation;
  • etc.

And the house made of timber does not need any finishing - its ideal surfaces are very beautiful and practical in maintenance. This is another savings item.

The oldest houses on the planet are over 1,500 years old. Yes, that’s right - they are built of wood. Is this not the best argument to build a beautiful, warm and safe house in which several generations of your family can live?
