Traditional exhibition of houses - Asuntomessut 2022 in Finland
An exhibition of houses is held in Finland every year. And this time a unique place was chosen - Naantali. The name of this Finnish city comes from the Latin Nådendal, which means "Valley of Grace".
The summer residence of the President of the Republic of Finland, Kultaranta, is located, the largest SPA in Finland and loved by all children Moomin Park is in Naantali. This city of sun attracts all year round. In the 19th century, healing springs were discovered in Naantali and the city turned into the most popular resort in Finland.
The exhibition of houses in Finland is not like most exhibitions, it cannot be called typical, the very idea of Asuntomessut appeared in the late 60s of the last century, and the first exhibition saw the light in 1970 in the city of Tuusula. At that time, the mission was to expand housing knowledge and improve the quality of housing design and construction. Since then, exhibitions have been held annually, up to the present day. But now it is not only about life in the house and about architecture, now the exhibition of houses offers ideas on energy saving, interior design, various forms of housing, including individual wishes.
The era of the coronavirus is changing the way we think about home, which is clearly visible at this year's exhibition.
A picturesque location has been chosen, a classic combination of Scandinavian nature and modern housing construction.
The height difference in the village is more than 20 meters. This is the best location ever. The landscape is perfect: the terrain creates privacy between the houses, they are at different heights, often separated by hills or cliffs, many overlooking a small port. Harbor for 50 motor and sailing boats, what could be more beautiful. In general, the entire area is on the island. On the other side of the village, a view of a large historical golf course is a great place for evenings with friends.
The paths are made of gravel, paving stones and asphalt, all materials are properly used to make it easy to maintain. Equipped with bridges, a lot of moss, which looks cool and does not require any maintenance.
On the shore of the harbor there are saunas of 60m2, where there is a bedroom and their cost is 130.000€. It could be purchased separately without a house and used as a mini cottage.
In housing construction, much attention is paid to environmental issues, the use of recycled natural materials. In the planning of living space, the emphasis is clearly placed on relaxation, as well as home sports.
The houses of the exhibition village are fit in the Scandinavian landscape, the color scheme is organically combined with nature. The dominance of dark shades of facades, including black, complements the beauty of northern nature and carries the elegance of the building. The dark facades of houses top the list in the architecture of recent years.
The design of the houses is aimed at having maximum joy. This effect is got by equipped large open terraces. Almost all of them are 3-5 m wide and the length of the whole house. They make a fire pit, the verandas are partially glazed, the area is large 20-70 m2 with heaters for the cold period.
All houses have a large glass area, which allows the sun's rays to freely enter the premises, filling them with daylight, and also to feel unity with nature, in combination, all this gives an excellent visual effect - a feeling of peace, warmth and comfort. At the same time, not a single house has batteries or a convector. Doors and windows, warm aluminum or wood.
The houses are made according to three technologies - glued non-settling timber, prefabricated frame/panels and Concrette-type stone from Finnish thermo-modules – this is what Lumi Polar uses in the construction of its houses.
I was surprised by pleasant smart solutions that are inscribed in the conditions of our time. Art Nouveau, which works in natural conditions of nature. Beautiful solutions for the everyday life of a modern person, and this, of course, is HYGGE - the Scandinavian philosophy of life, which is built on comfort, sincere communication, delicious food and a sense of security, peace, warmth and friendliness – this is the idea of the housing exhibition 2022.
In the era of modern technology, lifestyle has changed a lot, which allows you to connect to work processes by distance, this gives you more freedom in time and actions. Now it is possible to choose a more picturesque and remote place for housing, besides, the cost of a house under such conditions is more affordable, and the house itself is much more spacious - this has become one of the main insights that the Lumi Polar team took from the exhibition.
At the time of the exhibition all the houses have already been sold (the cost per m2 is 3500-5000 €) and their owners kindly show the houses to visitors, this is another difference between Asuntomessut and other exhibitions, here we see not just some “demo” versions , but real houses, where the owners will move immediately after the exhibition.
