Termites shall not pass!
Wooden houses in tropics and subtropics
What is the greatest enemy of wood in hot regions? This is neither fire, nor an earthquake or water, as many people falsely assume, but some wildlife representatives called termites. These insects feed on cellulose extracted from wood. They are not dangerous for people but for a house.
We do not process our sawn timber with any means of protection, including those against insects, either on the factory or on a building site, because all modern means contain harmful chemicals in large quantities . Our A and B grades high-quality wood, competently processed and dried at the factory, does not need any protection! Houses made of natural, unprocessed wood are the most durable on Earth and will stand for centuries! If termites may occur in your region, that's what you should be aware of.
Termites
These “white ants” are close relatives of cockroaches. They inhabit tropical and subtropical regions. In the wild, most of them feed on rotten stumps and branches, but on getting into a human dwelling, insects may eat everything what contains cellulose.
Small round holes in the wood speak about termites’ living in the house. The best means of protection against termites is to create a physical barrier, i.e. to treat the soil around the house with a special means, Termicid, for the pests not to get into the house. It kills insects and infects their colonies. Available in the form of granules, foam or liquid. When constructing a house, you can also install a mesh piping system to introduce Termicid for the soil treatment, if necessary, throughout the lifetime of the building. Thermicid also affects the bark beetles.
When shipping timber in containers by sea, it is recommended to put boron sticks in the container for no beetle to undermine the log.
When you use the above preventive measures, wood processing is not required. So you may build wooden houses even in a subtropical climate. Wood is the most environmentally friendly material that is able of regulating humidity inside the house. And it is very important for coastal regions with high humidity.
We have successfully implemented projects all over the world, in subtropical regions!
