Veronikas is a private country house located in the Amatciems eco-village, one of Latvia’s most iconic architectural ensembles. Spanning over 300 hectares near the city of Cesis, the village is designed as an integrated environment, where each house becomes a seamless continuation of the landscape.
Here, architecture follows a strict code: stylistic unity, mandatory project approvals, careful attention to nature, and the exclusion of random decisions. Within this conditions the Veronikas was created — the house that speaks not loudly, but convincingly, asserting itself as an object of high architectural and engineering culture.
Architectural typology and scale
eronikas is designed in a chalet style, reinterpreted according to modern European standards of eco-friendliness, energy efficiency, and durability. The architecture of the house is based on a precise balance between private and public areas, as well as a seamless connection between interiors, terraces, and surrounding landscapes.
The scale of the house allows it to function as a full-fledged country residence, where architecture serves not only to create an image but also to create everyday comfort.
Materials and structure: authentic Finnish engineering
The load-bearing structure of the house is made of premium glued laminated timber, 212 mm thick, crafted from carefully selected elite Finnish spruce. This is not just a material, but an engineering solution perfected by the harsh Scandinavian climate. It provides geometric stability, ideal healthy indoor climate and ultra-low energy consumption.
n the house premium Finnish wood-aluminum windows are installed. This hybrid system is a synergy of aesthetics and functionality: inside — the natural warmth and fragrance of natural wood, outside — durability and weather resistance of aluminum profile. Airtightness, sound insulation, and impeccable geometry are ensured for centuries.
The roof is covered with natural cement-sand tiles from a leading European manufacturer. Each tile guarantees fire safety, frost resistance, and acoustic comfort. Over time, it emphasizes the authenticity and nobility of the architecture.
The architecture of details: a distinctive silhouette
A key feature is the roof, inspired by historic towers in Riga. This element creates a memorable silhouette and references the Baltic architectural heritage. A spire with a weather vane completes the image, giving the house individuality and character.
Such solutions demand perfect design and excellent execution, where every detail becomes part of the architectural logic.
Space and landscape
A spacious area of terraces and balconies — 161 m² — strengthens the connection between the house and nature. These open areas serve as a natural extension of the interiors, allowing to live within the landscape, without sacrificing a sense of shelter and comfort.
The philosophy of Veronikas
Veronikas is a house where scale, materials, and details are a single flawless system. It embodies the architectural requirements of Amatciems, strict Finnish engineering culture, and attention to quality at every level — from structure to silhouette.
This project reflects Lumi Polar’s approach to private houses: architecture tested by environment, climate, and time.
