Architectural Concept
Coffemania is a commercial project by Lumi Polar, focused on the reconstruction of an existing building made of Finnish glued laminated timber.
The concept was developed by the distinguished Italian architect Fabiano Vidussi in collaboration with Lumi Polar’s unique team of Finnish professionals, ensuring full compliance with rigorous Scandinavian standards at every stage of the project.
The task was to transform a private building into a premium restaurant preserving Northern architectural aesthetics and integrating principles of functionality, light, and spatial transparency.
The concept is based on Lumi Polar’s distinctive Finnish architectural standards: precise geometry, engineering logic, visual lightness, and harmony with the natural environment. The space is designed to feel openness while fully meeting the demands of commercial use.
First Floor
The first floor, with an area of approximately 250 m², is built as a single, visually continuous space. The main composition is organized around a central bar island that defines the rhythm of the interior and regulates visitors flows. Excessive partitions were removed to allow natural light freely fill the space.
Along the glazed facades, green zones are arranged, where plants and soft lighting create natural accents and a sense of comfort for guests.
A kitchen, a preparation area, and a washing zone are combined into a compact and efficient technical block. Deliverers and staff access are placed in a separate zone, ensuring a complete separation of human flows and maintaining a service logic.
From the main hall exit leads to an open 59 m² terrace, which visually extends the interior and connects it with nature—a characteristic approach of the Finnish design tradition.
Second Floor
The second floor, approximately 280 m², is entirely dedicated to seating areas. At its center there is a hanging fireplace, forming a warm and expressive architectural point.
The layout remains open and airy, free of unnecessary partitions, creating the feeling of an “airy hall”. Panoramic mullion-free windows provide natural lighting and enhance the sense of visual lightness.
Two staircases located at opposite ends of the building allow to separate guest and staff flows, improving efficiency and user comfort.
Engineering and Technologies
The reconstruction is designed in accordance with Lumi Polar’s Finnish standards, where every detail is driven by precision and functionality. All engineering systems are designed with a focus on energy efficiency, indoor climate control, and guest comfort.
Ventilation and air-conditioning systems are seamlessly integrated into the building structure, with no visible technical elements, preserving the clarity of the architectural form.
